EU Platform on food losses and food waste: meeting of the food donation sub-group

On 5 June 2025, HOTREC (Bruno) took part in the meeting of the Food Donation Sub-Group, under the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste. The session was hosted by the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE).

Discussions among stakeholders and national representatives focused on proposed recommendations to improve the current legislative framework. Key topics included the introduction of a new definition for “charitable food business operator” and the removal of barriers (liability, labelling, hygiene) to the redistribution of surplus food.
